Is Sheryl Crow a Snitch for Working with the Feds in Lance Armstrong Doping Case?

I meant to blog about how Sheryl Crow worked with the feds in their investigation into claims her ex-fiance and Tour de France winner, Lance Armstrong, was doping. I really take exception to her being called a "snitch." One article in particular cast her as a narc in the headline, yet provided no information about what she allegedly said.

Most people who responded to the story understood her decision to cooperate. One woman's comment stood out, though. She said that Sheryl didn't have Lance's back. It made me wonder how many other women think this way, but say nothing.

If a woman knows a man is doing something illegal, she needs to leave him. In the event she doesn't and is later questioned for it, she shouldn't lie for any reason. Forget being "down for your man," "ride or die," or any of that other nonsense. She doesn't owe him loyalty. If he's innocent, then there's no problem anyway.

The way I see it is that if he wasn't concerned enough about her to stop whatever he was up to, there's no need for her to lie under oath (or otherwise). She shouldn't give the relationship more weight than he is. A woman owes it to herself to save her rear and make sure she doesn't end up in jail.

Say you're in a relationship where you already know too much, but are afraid to leave. Don't let it stop you. Change your name, number, move, tell him you're a lesbian and don't want to date men anymore...anything to get away from him! It doesn't matter, just leave.

Were it me, I'd sing, sing, sing like a canary. The police would be saying, "We've never met someone so cooperative." I don't tolerate anything illegal to get ahead. I've been broke while in college, had to waitress, clean houses, and took on lots of menial jobs in order to get by. I have no patience for a man who does something illegal to get ahead.

If this means I'm evil, not a good girlfriend, disloyal, or anything else, I can't count the ways I'm fine with that. I'd have no problem telling a man, "Sorry pal, you're on your own." These matters are no joke and always have a way of rearing their ugly heads. Get out when you can so you have no regrets later.

Tell me what you think! Is Sheryl a snitch for working with the feds?

Until next time...
