If Kristen Stewart Can Move on with Life after a Break-up, So Can You!

Prior to Kristen Stewart's red carpet appearance in Toronto for her movie On the Road, she was in hiding and off the radar. Having successfully made it through her first event, she went on to New York and endured another appearance to promote her movie. Realizing life is pretty fun and that the world isn't over, she headed out twice with Jennifer Lawrence and once Emma Watson joined them.

The reason I mention this is because how many times after a break-up have you felt like the world was over? It probably seemed like you'd never again find joy in anything. There might be a void that social interaction with your friends just doesn't seem to fill.

In his song, Somebody That I Used to Know, Gotye said "you can get addicted to a certain type of sadness." It can be hard to want to look nice and socialize. Sometimes it's more comforting to stay home. Depression can be a place where you just want to hang out for a while.

But, a person can't do this forever. There's nothing Kristen can do to backtrack on what's happened. The only plan she has is to march ahead. I'm glad to see her doing this because she's facing the world.

Some might think I'm being overly-congratulatory of her for basically showing up to work. I can see that side of the argument as well. The way I'm looking at it, though, is there are many women who go through breakups and hide out for months and months without moving on.

Having time to mourn the end of a relationship is normal. This is especially true if you made mistakes and need to contemplate what you can do to ensure you don't repeat them. Put a time limit on it, though. Of course you won't be "over" what happened, but don't obsess. Kristen had a contract that forced her back into the public eye. You might not have anything nearly as stringent, so it's up to you even more to get back into the game.

What Kristen's found is that life goes on. Her world temporarily stopped. Once she rejoined it, though, she embraced what it offered. For any woman who's going through heartache from a break-up, say to yourself, "If Kristen Stewart can move on with life, in the public eye, with the whole world watching, so can I."

Until next time...
