I didn’t know that Michael Phelp’s has a girlfriend!
Megan
Rossee, 25 is a Los Angeles model and part-time bottle server at a club
in Hollywood. She met Michael while working and turned
down Paris Hilton’s ex, Doug Reinhardt, for Michael. Why? Because she thinks he's
funny and kind-hearted. They’ve actually been serious since January but
haven’t revealed any details about their relationship (aside from a couple of her tweets) due to Michael’s
training schedule.
From
all accounts, Michael is really into her. She went with him to
Omaha to support him at the Olympic trials. Then he asked her to join
him in London for the games not only so she could be with him, but also
so she could see the world. He hopes she’ll quit her job at the club so
she can solely focus on her modeling.

This
is all great! When a man loves you, he wants you with him and feels
like you're a good luck charm. He appreciates your presence during the
victories wants you there in case he loses. Michael wants Megan to achieve her goals, be happy, and see the
world. A man doesn’t talk or feel this way about a woman unless he’s
absolutely crazy about her.
But,
of course, some think she’s with him for fame. I
can’t even describe how sick I am of hearing people say things like
this. It's hard to find anyone with more notoriety than Michael right
now. Does this mean he shouldn’t date so as to not face the “oh she’s
only with you for the money and fame” comments? Plus, Megan has her pick
of successful and athletic men. She chose Michael because he’s a sweetie
pie.
If
someone were to say to me, “I’m afraid he’s only with you because
you’re blonde” my retort would be, “No, I’m quite sure he’s also with me
for my personality. Being blonde doesn’t hurt, though.” People accusing
Megan of being this one-dimensional are really saying “Michael, you
couldn’t get a girl like that unless you were a gold medalist.” It’s
incredibly rude to Michael. It also says that he's not smart enough to spot a woman who doesn't have his best interest in mind. He's a big boy. Let's give him some credit.

I’ve
watched several interviews with Michael including the latest on 60
Minutes with Anderson Cooper. I agree with Megan that he is just very nice. There’s
nothing about him that presents an over-inflated ego or being
self-possessed. He always comes across as a well-grounded athlete.
In
the 60 Minutes interview, Michael admitted to having taken a lot of
time off from swimming. So, when Megan was with him at the trials, she
didn't know if he was going to make it to the Olympics. She had no idea how
he’d do this time around. What should she do now that he's done so well in London? Break up with him because
he won so people won't say she's using him for modeling contracts?
Megan sounds lovely, supportive, and like she knows a good man
when she sees one. Now that the games are over, though, I don’t want her
traveling with Michael. She’s already gone above and
beyond as a girlfriend and I’m hearing he wants to propose. Having more
prolonged trips might set her back. She should get back to L.A., focus on herself until he comes through with a ring – which I really
think he will -- and then travel for their honeymoon!
What advice do you have for Megan? Do you think Michael will propose?
