Is Taylor Swift in a Bizarre Situation with the Kennedys? Why It’s Doubtful She Purposefully Crashed the Wedding

My mother taught me to recognize when you’ve over-stayed your welcome. In fact, she added it’s best to not do this at all and cut my visits short. As many of you know, I grew up and still subscribe to the school of thinking where less is definitely more. Taylor Swift is being cast as the one who’s overstaying her welcome with the Kennedy family. But, is this entirely true?

A story surfaced today about how Taylor reportedly crashed Kyle Kennedy’s wedding to Liam Kerry. Victoria Gifford Kennedy told the Boston Herald that Conor and Taylor texted her one hour before the wedding asking if they could come. Victoria said that she clearly responded with a ‘Please do not come,’ text, but the two showed anyway.

From there, Victoria approached Taylor, introduced herself, and politely asked her to leave. Victoria said it was, “like talking to a ghost. [Taylor] seemed to look right past me.” Taylor ’s rep denies this saying she was invited. Further, the bride “profusely thanked her for being there.”

The next day, Taylor went with Conor and the rest of his family to the grave site of his deceased mother who committed suicide last May. A source said she’s been consoling him. Those close to Taylor are wondering why this is all moving so fast and she cannot take it slow.

Ok, let’s start at the beginning.

As far as the wedding goes, who exactly texted Victoria? She said “they texted.” Given it's Conor’s family, doesn’t it stand to reason Conor messaged her? What if he told Taylor it was fine they attended and she went with him? Of course her reaction would’ve been weird if she thought they were invited only to have Victoria ask her to leave.

Admittedly, Taylor moves quickly with her relationships. But, this is the first time I’ve ever heard of her popping up at a family event where she isn’t invited. Taylor ’s never done anything that made me think, “wow, that’s rude.” Heart on her sleeve? Yes. Obnoxious? No.

On the other hand, the Kennedy’s are known for being a weird bunch at times. I’m not saying Victoria’s lying, but I read this story with some skepticism. I found it strange that Ethel and Rory Kennedy would sing Taylor ’s praises so highly, saying they love her and would be lucky to have her as part of the family only to have Victoria turn around and feel the exact opposite. If Victoria isn’t telling the truth, well, it’s pretty mean of her to do this. Especially given Conor's grieving the loss of his mother.

Nevertheless, there are two points of concern. First, I hope Taylor isn’t being a therapist to Conor. It’s understandable he'd need a lot of support right now. It’s great she makes him happy. I just wonder if she’s being “too” there for him. As we saw with Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey, this can backfire on a woman.

Second, her relationship with Conor really is moving way too fast. Here’s where it gets tricky, though. What if Conor’s the one doing all of the initiating because he’s a bit needy right now? Well, it’s great that he wants to see her so much, but Taylor should get into the habit of saying “no.” She need not say something deep like “I think this is moving too fast.” Simply answering, “I’m planning my promotional tour with my team” will work.

Were Taylor to slow down the relationship, the whole family might embrace her more. This situation with Victoria has me nervous for her. The fact Victoria went to the media is really not sitting well with me. This is all a sign that Taylor should take a step back until everything blows over.
