Is Demi Moore Writing a Tell-All about Marriage to Ashton Kutcher?

Earlier today, I read an article that publisher HarperCollins is paying Demi Moore $2 million to write a book. Here’s the kicker (at least to me): She met with them to pitch the idea. I would’ve thought that they’d approach her, but it sounds quite the opposite. In other words, it seems like she really wanted to strike the deal.

No one knows for certain what the book covers. But, rumor is that it's about her relationship with her mother, overcoming addiction to cocaine and alcohol, and, of course, her marriages to Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher. It’s anticipated her book will be a best-selling blockbuster. Apparently, her daughters aren’t excited because they don’t want the public to have such an up-close and personal view of their lives.

I have a mixed reaction to this one. Part of me thinks it’s fine for her to write a tell-all about Ashton given he put her through the hell he has. If there is a way to tell her side of the story and make money off of her humiliation, then by all means go for it. All women should be so lucky to have an opportunity to score millions off of an ex who cheats.

Ultimately, though, I don’t see this working out well for her. It’s said that Demi’s relationship with her daughters is strained. No matter how badly I wanted revenge or what I would be paid, I couldn’t embarrass my children for personal gain. Even if they were fine with it, I still couldn’t write a book like that because it’d be my job to protect them from public scrutiny. Just because they can't foresee any unintended consequences doesn’t mean there aren’t any.

Additionally, writing a tell all could hurt her chances of finding a good man. If she wants to land a relationship in the future with someone, he'll be gun shy about her loose lips and potentially think she’s vindictive. Right now, most everyone thinks Ashton’s a jerk for cheating on her. Writing a tell-all could shift the blame from him to her and make her out to look like the bad guy.

Of course, there’s freedom of speech and Demi has every right to sell her tell-all. Having the right to speak your mind in the U.S. simply means you won’t be carted off to jail -- not that there won’t be scrutiny. I’m worried this will backfire on Demi after she’s been through so much already.

Tell me what you think! Should Demi write a tell-all?

Until next time…
