I’ve never posted about Gwen
Stefani, 42, because ever since I started the blog, she’s been married to
singer/songwriter Gavin Rossdale, 46. She's always out with Gavin and the kiddies,
looking like such a hipster mom – not the kind you’d be embarrassed to have drop
you off at school. There’s never been anything romantically
controversial about her that's made me think, "Oh, I have a point to make
with this one." Well, when you have a strong relationship with your
husband there’s not much drama.
Gwen
is featured on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar and talks about how she balances her life in her interview. What caught my attention, though,
is how she said that she likes wearing makeup at home because it makes Gavin like her more. According to Gwen, he likes it when she wears makeup.
It's great that she likes getting gussied up for Gavin. I’m sure
he appreciates the work it takes for her to balance everything and still
look hot. A wife doing her best to stay desirable to her husband is a
good thing. It makes him feel like you’re still dating. No married couple wants to feel like they're stuck in a
marriage rut where no one takes care of themselves.

To
my surprise, many women left nasty comments about
the interview. A couple of them are as follows:
She
seems very shallow. Her husband likes her better with makeup? Most men
that love you like you best natural because they appreciate your natural
beauty. She is one of those women who try too hard.
I think it is sad that she has to wear makeup to feel pretty for her husband. She
is a beautiful woman and it's so hard to imagine not being able to be
yourself around your spouse! These celebs are under way too much
pressure, it is self-imposed often but still insane!!

Gavin
saying he likes her better with makeup doesn’t mean he thinks she's not pretty without it -- only that he thinks she’s prettier with
it. I don’t understand why this makes him a jerk. If a man were to tell
me “Vanessa, you look better with makeup” I’d laugh and say, “I agree.”
We’ve all seen the before and after photos of celebrities. The majority
of them look better with makeup.

What
gets me the most, though, is the person who actually said Gwen seems
very shallow! Why? Because she likes to look good for the health of her
marriage? She’s complimenting Gavin and letting him know their marriage
means something. Gwen doesn’t take any of it for granted. My instinct is
that she doesn’t feel insecure either.
Since
when is it appropriate for other women to hate on another woman for
doing her best? Ridiculous and catty. This is why men say “meow” about
women. And they’re right.
Women like hot men, too. Say you meet a man who works out when you first start
dating. After you marry, though, he gains a bunch of weight and no longer takes care of
himself. Can you honestly say he'll be as physically appealing to you? If he isn't, does that make you shallow? People like other people who take care of themselves.
Keep at it, Gwen. It takes tons of work to do life as well as you have. Your marriage is outlasting a lot of others in Hollywood and your kids are handsome little dynamos. You’re a role model for both single women when they marry and married women on how to stay married.
