Chad Johnson Arrested for Domestic Violence Against Evelyn Lozada -- Why a Woman Must Be Careful When Confronting a Man

I clicked on TMZ this morning and can't say I was surprised to see NFL star Chad Johnson's mug at the front and center. He was arrested last night for domestic violence allegedly against wife Evelyn Lozada of VH1's "Basketball Wives." There are conflicting reports about an alleged head-butt -- Chad says she did it, she says he did it. Either way, she fled to a neighbors house for safety. When the cops arrived, there was a 3" laceration on her forehead.

I know Ev has a temper, but something tells me Chad head-butteded her. Head-butting is a pretty masculine thing to do. I don't know of too many women who would ram their forehead against another man's in a fit of anger. Especially when they're as feminine as Ev.

What prompted it? Well, apparently Ev found a receipt for condoms in their Maserati and confronted Chad. From there all hell broke loose. My guess is there was probably quite a bit of yelling. I wouldn't be surprised if she slapped him, too.

This post isn't intended to judge Ev in the slightest or to say that Chad is the one who, in fact, head-butted her. What is important for women to recognize, though, is that -- this scenario aside -- it can be dangerous to confront a man in a fit of heated anger. It won't even matter if the woman is right! A man will start to feel like a caged animal very quickly and can lash out. A woman risks that he'll not only hurt her but any children if they're involved, too.

I hope my readers are mature enough to not say "She had it coming. Ev's known for being a bully." Domestic violence, irrespective of the culprit, is never right. No one ever "has it coming" or "deserves it." 

Before writing this, I tried to think of what I'd do were I in Ev's shoes. Quite honestly, I'd pull a Katie Holmes and figure out my exit strategy. And when he was served the divorce papers, I'd have a copy of the condom receipt stapled to the top. Then, I'd sit back, watch him scramble, and let him hang.
