My readers know that Kim Kardashian has broken a lot of Rules
with Kanye West since they started dating several months ago. However,
one manner in which I’m glad she’s putting her foot down is telling her
family to back off when it comes to their advice on her relationship.
This is a wise decision on her part.
The
article said it isn’t that Kim doesn’t think her family has good
intentions. Only that she doesn’t want anyone else trying to tell her
what to do. She trusts her mother and sisters when it comes to business,
but wants to listen to her own instincts when it comes to her romance
with Kanye.
I doubt that Kim will be doing anything remotely resembling The Rules.
But, I think it’s great she’s thinking for herself. If they marry, it’s
comforting to know that it sounds like she’ll do her best to not let
the rest of her family interfere.
The
reason why I chose to discuss this article, though, is because of the
women who’ve said their family and friends call them crazy for doing The
Rules. They’re told that they shouldn’t have to play hard-to-get and
any other games in order to get a man. Further, advice like this “compartmentalizes and generalizes” relationships, i.e. men don’t always want to pursue a woman.

What
I always find humorous about comments such as these is that they come
from people who have no idea how many success stories there are. The
woman who thinks there is value in playing hard-to-get will be persuaded not once she tells her family and friends. She might very well listen to them, especially because it's an easier route than being disciplined which The Rules requires.
The
point I’m trying to make is try The Rules see whether they work on men (which they do, by the way).
Be capable of independent thought and decide for yourself. If
you’re in a relationship and do more than he does, pull back and see what happens. If you aren’t in a relationship, is it because you
pursue men?
How
this relates to Kim is that something in her gut is saying “listen to your inner voice.” If your inner voice says playing hard-to-get with men works, then heed it and
see the plan through. If anyone gives you a hard time, just say, “Oh, I’m not doing The
Rules, I’m really busy lately and haven’t had time to see him
last minute." Remember, no one can prove you’re busy!
Tell me what you think! Have you ever regretted listening to your friends and family over your inner voice?
Until next time…
Shine like Platinum!
