Say you're dating a guy and his best friend's girlfriend/wife is acting pretty coolly toward you. You really want her to like you. It's upsetting she doesn't. No matter what you do, though, she's not interested. She's not rude. Just ambivalent.
So, you confide in your fella who then talks to his best friend who's her boyfriend/husband. Your guy's best friend has a talk with her. She agrees to give you a chance for the sake of her guy and his best friend. Still, you can't tell if she's being nice because she's forced to or if she's genuinely interested.
This is what I suspect is happening with Kim Kardashian, 31, and Beyonce, 30. It was reported that Kim bought a $5k diamond studded baby bracelet for Blue Ivy. A bit much, right? But, she took it a step further and had "Love Auntie Kim" engraved on it. As anticipated, Beyonce didn't warm to Kim calling herself an "Auntie" given they haven't known each other that long.
Assuming this story is true, this is another situation in Kim's life in which The Rules could help. Even though it sounds like she has good intentions and wants everyone to like her, she shouldn't make such an effort with Beyonce. Ellen and Sherrie would tell Kim to go about her own business and not be so anxious to befriend Beyonce. You can't make someone like you. So, why bother?

By trying this hard with Beyonce, Kim's making a couple of other Rules mistakes with Kanye. First, she's showing him that Beyonce's relationship is just that important to her -- because her relationship with him is just that important to her. Second, engraving a bracelet with "Aunt" implies Kanye and she are married. Not only is the gift premature as a gift to Beyonce, it's early in the game for Kanye and she, too.
To Beyonce's credit, she's actually doing The Rules for Marriage. Not surprising given she loves The Rules! If she's trying with Kim on Jay Z's behalf, it's Rules of her to put her marriage first.
Kim should take a step back and relax. I'm happy to see that she's enjoying her romance with Kanye. Yet, forcing relationships with or on people isn't the way to go. Maybe if Kim didn't try so hard, Beyonce wouldn't be so suspicious of her.
One last quick point that is completely off topic -- Kim, if you read this, please don't wear your hair like the photo above anymore. Ever.
