Christina Milian Role Model for Single Mothers -- How Positivity about an Ex Helps Land a New Man!

Reading an article about Christina Milian today made me realize that I haven’t blogged about her. The Dream and she split before I even started my site. Since then, I don’t recall her dating anyone.

But, just because she isn’t dating doesn’t mean she isn’t being Rules! After perusing her interview where she discussed being a single mom, I can see her approach to motherhood is based on strength and sensitivity. I recommend single mom’s out there read what she has to say because she’s positive yet fair.

Christina admitted that, of course, she’d like her daughter, Violet, to have more of a relationship with her father. However, her attitude was pragmatic. Since it isn’t happening, she talks about how she’s accepted the responsibility of being two parents. Her grace impressed me because she didn’t take the opportunity to bash The Dream or make him look badly. Not doing so saved her from sounding bitter.

Compare this to Jenny McCarthy who, while on Howard Stern, put a massive guilt trip on Jim Carrey for not keeping in touch with her son, Evan, following their split. Yes, Christina acknowledges she wished things were different. But, she didn’t tell the whole world how many times she’d tried reaching out to The Dream only to have him not respond. That’s what Jenny did to Jim.

Two other major differences for Christina, too, are that The Dream and she were married – and he was caught cheating. He’s also Violet’s biological father. Jim and Jenny neither tied the knot nor is Jim a father to Evan. Notice the difference?

As they say, “Attitude is everything.” I think Christina’s going to land a sweetie pie of a man in the near future. He’ll be that much more inclined to stay with her because she’s not saying nasty things about her ex. She’s also setting a solid example for how her daughter should act with men. All very, Rules!

Tell me what you think! Is there a difference between how Christina and Jenny are responding to being a single mother?

Until next time…
