How Did Priscilla Chan Land Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg?

My readers and followers of The Rules know that it's best when a man puts a ring on it -- as Ellen and Sherrie say -- in no less than four seasons. The logic being relationships that go longer than this are less likely to end in marriage. As we saw this weekend, though, it's not always the case. There are exceptions.

For those of you who don't know, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, 28 and Priscilla Chan, 27, have been together for nine years. They met at a college frat party while attending Harvard. Yesterday, Priscilla and Mark wed in the backyard of their new home (picture below) in Palo Alto, Calif.. About 100 friends and family were invited under the pretense that they were celebrating Priscilla's graduation from medical school but instead watched the couple tie the knot -- click here for photos.

Apparently, Priscilla and Mark were planning their nuptials for the last five months. Mark also designed Priscilla's "simple ruby ring" which she didn't see until the wedding. Because Facebook went public last week, Mark's wealth is now estimated at $19 billion.

So, most of you are probably wondering how did Priscilla land Mark?

Honestly, I don't know! Which is why I suspect it could be Rules. I looked around for information on the two and couldn't find much. Priscilla wasn't quoted anywhere in the press discussing their relationship. Even though she's dating one of the world's most notably wealthy men, Priscilla's more concerned about bringing attention to the critical shortage of organs available.

It doesn't get more Rules than that! Ellen and Sherrie tell female celebrities to not discuss their romantic lives with the press. If they talk at all, it should be about upcoming projects or charities on which their working. Priscilla is focused on pediatrics and issues facing healthcare. Mark is a great addition to her life, but not the primary focus. Maybe this will change now that they're married, but she was right not to do so until now.

And she's really smart! Priscilla went to Harvard for undergrad, University of California San Francisco School of Medicine, and earned an exclusive membership into the National Medical Honor Society. It doesn't seem like she worried about whether Mark would propose.

Lastly, they were both under 20 when they started dating. That's pretty young to concern themselves with thoughts of 'til death do us part.' They were in highly competitive schools with all of their hopes and dreams ahead of them. I think it's perfectly fine they waited until she graduated medical school.

I know they were living together before marriage which definitely isn't Rules. That might come back to haunt her, but I doubt it. She sounds like a very busy woman who never cared about making marriage a top priority. I don't get the sense Priscilla pursued Mark.

I think it all sounds great and wish them both the best of luck!

Tell me what you think! What do you think of Priscilla and Mark as a couple?

Until next time...

Shine like Platinum!
